CLOUDED is a gender-neutral collection that parallels the feeling of vulnerability one experiences in the vast nature, with the experience of alienation in an unforgiving society. Inspired by experiences of alienation, this collection reflects upon the concept by taking references to outdoor apparel design details and textiles seen in ready-to-wear pieces, creating discord in the functionality of the garments. Referencing outdoor apparel constructions, the garments consist of complex panellings for an engineered fit according to the layering system. The notions of security and vulnerability are seen through technical and transparent textiles such as ripstop nylons and noseeum mesh, furthering the sense of protection while being exposed. Loose silhouettes are paired with tight, structured garments, thus exemplifying the idea of disorientation. Monochromatic colours capture the essence of isolation experienced in the wilderness, representing the feelings of alienation. The conflicted emotions evoked in this collection leave viewers feeling uneasy, and clouded with their thoughts and emotions.
